With the CW's Supernatural just under eight weeks away, fans are scrambling to find details on the upcoming season. Luckily, we have wrangled together what amounts to a decent preview of Supernatural's first month back on the air, new characters and all. In a word, the episodes sound fantastic. Even with the slight descriptions we have, you can see that the season will have a cohesiveness more akin to serialized drama's like Lost and Heroes. Beware, light spoilers lay ahead.
Supernatural 3.01 – The Magnificent Seven (airs October 4)
This episode deals directly with the aftermath of the boys opening the gate to hell. Seven demons have crossed over altogether and the Winchesters will get a taste of what it is going to be like to clean up the mess in this one. Expect Ruby (Katie Cassidy) to make her debut as Ruby in this episode.
Supernatural 3.02 – The Kids are Alright (airs October 11)
Dean (Jensen Ackles) will find out that he may have an eight year old son when the brothers go after a changeling that has a hunger for moms and their kids. Naturally, the paternity issue will be the subplot of the episode. When changeling and the concept of Dean having a kid are mentioned in the same paragraph, though, you can almost smell the fake out.
Supernatural 3.03 – Bad Day at Black Rock (airs October 18)
The boys, Sam (Jared Padalecki) in particular, find the hunter community up in arms over the opening of the Hell Gate . Gordon in particular is pointing fingers at Sam, and one of his lackeys ends up kidnapping him. Meanwhile, Dean has his first encounter with Bela (Lauren Cohen).
Supernatural 3.04 – Sin City (airs October 25)
Dean disappears with a hottie from hell when he hooks up with a demon named Casey. Sam is in pursuit. Dean's deal for Sam will get some airplay in this episode, hopefully insinuating an escape clause.

Supernatural Big Bad Bracket: We Have a Winner!
The votes have been tallied, the dust has settled, and we have a winner in this year’s Supernatural Big Bad Bracket. Dead Daddy Winchester held on to his lead over Bobby and emerged victorious, the ultimate power player among this year’s competitors.
It was one heck of a fight, though, folks – the lead went back and forth early on, with Dead Daddy establishing a slim lead by the end of the week. Bobby fought back valiantly – at times the two titans were only a few votes apart – but in the end, Dead Daddy Winchester got 100 more votes than his friend and compatriot. Bobby, our trucker hats are off to you for putting up such a strong fight, but John had you in the end.
There you have it, folks: Blood -- even incorporeal blood -- truly is thicker than water – even holy water, and even when that holy water is in a bottle of beer. Congratulations, Dead Daddy Winchester, for your victory. And our congratulations as well to Bobby, who put up a great fight.
Let’s hear it for Dead Daddy Winchester, this year’s Big Bad Bracket champion!
Do you think the best man won? Or do you think another competitor from earlier in the bracket should have made it all the way? Tell us what you think!

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Cast in Legendary Comic Project
Our favorite demon-hunting dad, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, has joined the cast of Watchmen, causing comics geeks everywhere to do a little happy dance. The movie is based on the seminal comic by Alan Moore (V for Vendetta, among many, many other ground-breaking projects) and Dave Gibbons. This isn’t your standard men-in-tights comic. Check out this list of creds spotlighted in E!Online: “[Watchmen was] the only graphic novel to ever win the Hugo Award, a top honor in the world of science fiction and fantasy, and the only work of its kind to appear on Time magazine's list of the 100 best novels since 1923.” Yes, folks, it’s that good.
Jeffrey is taking a part that has some similarities with John Winchester: He’ll play The Comedian, a tough-talking (check), ass-kicking (check), cigar-chomping (never saw John do that, but we can imagine it) Vietnam Vet (check) who fights crime (substitute demons) and cracks wise.
We love the comic, we love Jeffrey, and we loved the last movie director Zack Snyder tackled, The 300, which was also based on a fantastic comic. Basically, we can’t wait!
And the even better news: Watchmen is filming in Vancouver . Maybe, just maybe, if we wish really hard, Jeffrey will be able to take a day off from filming the big-screen pic to show up on the small screen to say hi to his boys. Oh please, oh please!

Supernatural's Big Bad Bracket: Down to the Final Hours (And Really, Really Close)!
We're down to the final hours of the Big Bad Bracket, and the competition is still fierce. So fierce, that we're sending things into sudden-death overtime. Voting will stay open until 5 p.m. Central time - but the second the clock hits 5, we take down the poll.
Who will emerge victorious? Dead Daddy Winchester currently has a small lead, but Bobby has been roaring back. It's a suitably epic battle to wrap up Season Two and usher in Season Three, when it's all about war.
This is your last chance to register your support for who you think is the most bad-ass of the remaining competitors. Vote, get your friends to vote, train your pets to press that button, do whatever it takes to show your support for John or Bobby.
May the best man win!
